[Fashion Guide] Widen Your Horizen With Parsons- The New School For Design (申請介紹)

大家都知道PARSONS 是紐約頂尖的設計學院之一
對於學校的傑出設計師等人
以及學校的各類活動
在紐約時裝周(New York Fashion Week)是從不缺席的
當然這同時也是申請者的兵家必爭之地
 
然而
國外的申請者往往因為網頁過於繁複
而無法一時片刻弄懂
或者一不小心錯誤了理解了學校的意思
而導致申請屢屢被疑持
 
今天這篇
就讓我來對學制做一點簡單的介紹
 
並且希望達到拋磚引玉的效果
對於時尚
除了關注時裝周的各類秀場活動外
更能同時兼顧學習的本質
 
首先就學校的制度而言
簡單可以區分為三大類
Undergraduate
Graduate
AAS
 
 
顧名思義 :
 
學校的按部門可基本分為: 1. 大學部 2. 研究所 3 推廣部門 
另外暑期還有短期進修供大家申請
 
而在申請辦法方面:

各部門的申請程序與截止日期不盡相同
有志於設計學院的學生們
首先要選定自己想念的部門
以及參考學校提供的 Admission Calendar of Event
先對學校提供的各類校園導覽活動以及資訊
有一個初步的認識

申請方式:  大學部的基本規則如下
 
首先 Parsons的申請程序已經完全線上化 (Online Application) 
這不僅方便了外國的學生
對美國廣大的土地而言
也方便了本國的申請者

而申請的項目 基本上可以分為這幾大項

    • (for Architectural Design, Communication Design,  Design and Technology, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, Illustration, Integrated Design, Interior Design, Photography, and Product Design)

    • (for Strategic Design and Management)

    • (for Urban Design)

    • (for dual-degree applicants to Eugene Lang College and Parsons)
     
    在申請前
    確切地了解自己的專長興趣以及學業目標是最重要的
    Parsons規定每部門申請必須擇一申請
    切勿一稿多投
    這樣可是會被學校作廢的
    當然~那昂貴的申請費也就付之流水了 ~不可不慎阿!
     
    另外在申請的程序上
  • Log in to create an application account (申請者必須先在Parsons網站上登錄並且註冊帳號) 
  • Review your specific program requirements. (仔細審視申請項目的要求)
  • Review and fill in the online application and upload the materials required for your program. Please make sure that each page includes a title, a page number, and your name.

    • (仔細填寫申請資料 並且上傳 在此必須注意 上船的文件必須註明文件標題 文件頁數 以及最重要的 別忘了寫上自己的大名!) 
  • Upload documents in MS Word format, review your application, and print a copy for your records.

    • (上傳的文件以Word檔MS格式 記得自己也保存一份 萬一學校沒收到 也好補寄)
  • Complete the process by signing electronically, paying the $50 application fee, and submitting the application. 

    • (最後文件都上傳完畢後 當然就是繳付申請費了 在此提醒申請的學梓們 學校可不收現金 可不要傻傻地拿個信封裝了50美金就寄去學校歐! 請以信用卡線上繳款)

    Application Instructions by Graduate Program:

    研究所申請規則大致跟大學部是類似的
     
    一樣是先上學校官方網站註冊帳號
    並且上傳各類要求文件
    並按照規定的格式
    最後簽名並且確認文件都上傳完畢了
    繳付申請費就算完成了線上申請
     
    但是!
    研究所畢竟是Advanced Education 而申請方式外
    我認為大家可能更關心各類獎學金辦法
    以及畢業後工作出路之類的問題

    再來談談AAS該怎麼申請!
    顧名思義
    AAS是Associate in Applied Science的縮寫
    學校對於這個部門 有著下列的解釋
     
    The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree program is most suitable for students with some college experience who are clear about their interests in the field of design and prepared for rapid immersion in a professional course of study. The typical student has a bachelor's or an advanced degree and work experience in a field other than design. Admission to the program is based on the prospective student’s maturity, desire to pursue further education, previous accomplishments, and potential for growth. Applicants must have graduated from high school at least two years prior to be eligible to apply.
     
    簡單說
    若本身已經有了大學文憑 或者更高的學歷
    或者本身已經有了相當的工作經驗
    那AAS就是您的最佳選擇
    此乃進修部門!
     
    而進修到底是進修什麼領域呢?
     
    學校提供了下列四大類供申請者參考
    Fashion Design
    Fashion Marketing
    Graphic Design
    Interior Design
     
    申請辦法上述已經簡單介紹過了
    在此我還是老話一句
    申請的領域必須是結合個人興趣 志向 以及工作遠景
    切勿同時申請多個部門
    那可是會被學校作廢的歐!
